When the new owners decided to remodel the 92 year old Bellin Building, they had some grand plans. These included turning the first floor into retail space, replacing the windows and adding more lighting.
The terra cotta face of the building was washed in October of 2006. Demolition of the first floor began in November of that same year.
A new flagpole was put up and lit in early May and dedicated on Memorial Day 2007. Demo of the second floor began at the same time.
The newly installed grand staircase is the focal point of the renovations. Visitors will enter the building through the original corner entrance which will lead them through a glass-encased corridor. From there, visitors can choose from a delicious cup of coffee from the Daily Buzz or a cold glass of beer from the bar. The grand staircase will take visitors directly to the awaiting hostess of the new restaurant.
